Varibeam coldhead support stand

To provide the greatest degree of nozzle stability and user flexibility at the crystal, Oxford Cryosystems have designed the Varibeam coldhead support stand. The large diameter hollow aluminium constructions combines strength and rigidity with flexibility and low weight to give precision alignment of the cold nitrogen gas stream.

It can be adjusted to suit almost all known diffractometer configurations and it's graduated leadscrew positioner allows the cold stream to be positioned at the crystal and then moved away along a sliding scale without losing the critical alignment with the sample.

The integrated X-Y Positioner works in conjunction with the leadscrew positioner, giving accurate and repeatable alignment of the cold stream is needed. The fine control of the position of the stream means that even if the nozzle has been moved for room temperature data collection or because access to the sample was needed, the stream can be re-centred at the crystal position quickly and easily.

Note that an adapter for simple fitting of the Varibeam to the Bruker AXS SMART APEX goniometer is available.
