Metripol hardware

Metripol hardware comprises:

• Motorised rotating polariser & filter assembly with 550nm interference filter
• Black & white or colour firewire camera system
• Circular analyser assembly
• Adapters for mounting of rotating polariser & circular analyser
• Controller box for polariser  (Polariser can also be controlled by Metripol software)

Metripol is simple to fit to a microscope and once fitted, can be removed quickly.
Data collection is simple: One click activates the motorised polariser which moves the required number of steps, usually 10, 20 or 100. At each step an image is acquired.

These images are then used by the Metripol software to instantaneously calculate values for birefringence (|sinδ|), slow axis orientation (φ)and intensity (I₀)
