Metripol software
The Metripol system consists of hardware components and more importantly, the Metripol software. Metripol software is a windows-based package, written specifically for data collection and analysis in conjunction with the Metripol hardware.
The software is user-friendly and intuitive, and allows the user to quickly begin collecting and analysing birefringence data. Data collection is performed with a single click. The polariser rotates through the required number of steps (usually 5, 10 and 50) and an image is acquired at each step. At the end of this process (under 5 seconds for a 10-step data collection), the software presents 3 separate images, representing respectively the birefringence (|sinδ|), slow axis orientation (φ)and intensity (I0) of the sample.
These images are presented using false colour scales, which are fully customisable. A fourth window, the "information" window presents quantitative data on the above parameters, in text and histogram format.
